The Art Institute of Chicago - Spanish 4 Field Trip

When: Friday, March 21st

Times: Meet in Commons at 7:30am, bus leaves at 7:45am. We will be back at school around 7:30pm.

Extra Costs

  • Lunch (or pack food)
  • Museum Gift Shop for souvenirs.
  • Museum CafĂ© for a drink or a snack. (The cafĂ© is small and busy but the food is tasty).
  • Coffee or snacks at the train station

Food

  • Eat breakfast as we are not stopping.
  • Bring snacks for the bus and train. Food can be left on bus. Pack food for the ride home.
  • There are also fast food places and little stores inside the train station for chips and drinks.
  • But, don’t drink a ton as your bathroom access is 0 once we are on the bus!

 

Clothes: You do not need to dress up for the museum; however, we will be walking A LOT so wear comfortable shoes.

What is the weather? The forecast (as of Sunday evening) is calling for 40 with PM showers. Bring an umbrella and a coat (or dress in layers). The museum will have a place for us to put our coats and bags. No bookbags are allowed in the art galleries but crossbody type purses are ok. You do not need to dress up for the museum; however, we will be walking A LOT so wear comfortable shoes.

Schedule for Friday, March 21st:

7:30am Meet in the Cafeteria, leave from Door 20, bus leaves at 7:45am. We WILL NOT wait for you! We have a train to catch!

  • 10:00am (CT) (11:00 ET) - South Shore train #14 departs East Chicago Station. You are welcome to snack or eat on the bus/train. We will eat lunch when we get to Chicago.

  • 10:44am (CT) – 12:30 Arrive at Millennium Station. We will walk to The Bean and take a group photo, sightsee, and eat. Our museum visit starts at 12:45. Be at the museum at 12:30.

  • 12:30 – 2:00 - Self-guided tour of the Art Institute of Chicago with Mrs. Chronister. Spanish 4 students will focus on the Spanish artists with an in-depth look at the Dali exhibit. Backpacks are not allowed in the museum and will be stored in a room set aside for our group. Small purses are ok. Our entrance is 111 S. Michigan Ave. Be there on time or have consequences.

  • 2:00 Meet at Gift Shop to start walking back to Millennium Station: 151 Michigan Ave – Possibility of stopping by Starbucks in the train station; also places to buy food in the train station.

  • 2:30pm be back on the train. Train leaves at 2:45.

  • STUDENTS: 20 minutes before we arrive at the East Chicago train station in Indiana, please use the restrooms on the train. If we all wait until we get to the station it adds 30-45 minutes to our time to get back home. Consider it part of the experience. =)

  • 3:30 pm (4:30 ET) - Arrive at East Chicago Station and head home. Arrive in Busco around 7:30pm.
